My art practice explores the experience of the contemporary capitalist subject through staged scripted narratives. Social actions and processes of decision-making are depicted as choreographed video and live performance projects. Combining acts and speech from different personal, social and institutional contexts, complex interrelations of desire and power are played out through comparative dramatisations set in select architectural environments. Productions are enigmatic, merging personal with assumed professional content, extending questions of power to the maker. Referring to potential social or personal change, overarching and temporally compressed narrative structures question ideas of progress, where themes of time, biological possibility and history are treated, amidst human actions, visual cultures and contexts producing contemporary subjectivities. |
